Where are the best Port (Porto) producers located in Portugal?

Most of the major port-wine producers, or shippers as they call them, are located in Oporto just across the river on the south bank of the Rio Duoro in a district called Vila Nova de Gaia. While most ports are dark red, many people don’t realize they also come in a white variety. Of the ten total styles of Port, the main three are ruby, tawny, and vintage.
