Invariably you will find yourself in some interesting places as you travel. Whether by sheer economics, desperation, or worse yet, the counsel of a trusted friend you will wind up in a compromising position from time to time. In general it’s best to heed a few simple but effective pieces of advice:
- Never eat raw meat or fish. This includes unwashed fruits and vegetables too.
- Avoid precooked hot foods which contain meat, fish, egg, or dairy products that have sat “for a while” under a heat lamp or unrefrigerated in a window.
- If the local tap water is deemed unfit to drink (unpotable), avoid drinks containing ice or other beverages that haven’t been boiled or bottled in origin.
